Oklahoma Moving to Restore Parental Rights

'The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their child is a fundamental right'.”

In its very conception, Family Court represents the destruction of many formerly held constitutional rights, such as the 6th and 7th Amendment Right to a jury trial. Also lost are various incarnations of the 14th Amendment Right to Due Process, one of which is the Fundamental Right to Family Unity, or the Right to Parent.

Oklahoma is progressing towards an amendment to their State Constitution that would take a step toward restoring that right in that state:

"SCR 1 passed the Senate on February 13, so today’s passage in the House was the final step in its adoption by the state. Resolutions do not require the governor’s signature. In the resolution, the Oklahoma legislature, on behalf of the people of the state, urge Congress, and especially Oklahoma’s delegation, to support the proposed PRA so the States can vote to add it to the U.S. Constitution. The proposed Amendment would ensure:

'The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their child is a fundamental right'.”
